I was changing out my stock shift boot for a short throw boot and I broke the plastic ring thingy that holds the shift boot in the console. Is this part available by itself?

I assume you're referring to the manual shifter. For model years 1997 through 2001, the retainer was only available as part of the boot/retainer assembly. I'm not certain about later model years. Check with Gene's Kar Shop, a Forum vendor, and he may be able to help you with a used one. Good luck.
Did you break it OR was it broken...everyone seems to have a broken plastic retainer..can't buy it separately...mine was broken and I removed the stock shft boot (PITA between the glue and staples ) and I installed the redline stuff..I used Vinyl adhesive I got from fabric store to hold the new piece in place..also worked great for the e-brake boot to wrap the leather around the stock wire ring....I have pics if you are interested
