Not sure where you live but the last time I had a top replaced on my C4 I got it done for $189 and it looked great.
Find Al Knock(sp?) interiors they have the best price on tops new or check with Gene at the carshop (supporting vendor to the left) and see if he has a used one

Take a look at some of the parts catalogs like Ecklers or Mid America. I believe that the top retails for like $500. Also a week or so ago I saw a post in the parts for sale section where somebody was selling a new or like new oak top for cheap. Installation varies but I can't see it costing more than $500 to take the old top off and install the new with headliner and glass.
