I gotta Scosche adaptor from Wal-mart yesterday for $17, It works great ,no volume loss, some of the wireless ones dont seem to work as good, this 1 plugs into the cig. lighter,if you wanted you can hardwire it or use the cig. adaptor in the glove compartment.
Spend about $70 on a wiring harness from PIE that plugs in place of your CD player in the trunk and run a cable to your MP3 player in the front. It works great and you don't have to hard wire anything and you can keep your mp3 player portable.
No just passin on an easier way for guys here, was gonna go the harness way but you fail to tell people you gotta have the back harness for the other harness to plug into so you actually have to buy 2 harnesses,so for $17 you cant go wrong ,I was impressed because of some of the negative comments on other types of adaptors ,I mentioned Scosche because if you go to buy it youll know what to look for.
Lots of discussion on this subject. I don't know electronics, but here is what I've learned.
1) FM Modulator. Easy way to get audio from the MP3 player. Some of course are better than others. I got a "Monster Cable" modulator on which I can select one of seven FM frequencies.
2) Plug-n-play adapter. You buy an adapter which plugs into your stock Bose system in place of the CD changer. You then plug your MP3 player into the adapter. You loose the use of the CD changer.
3) There is a schematic floating around CF that shows how to splice in a 12v relay into the CD Changer harness. A switch will allow you to select between the CD changer and another input ~ i.e. RCA Jacks for MP3 player input.
