I'm fortunate to have a 2000 coupe with the single in-dash CD slot and and a CD/AUX button. I had a 12-disc changer installed today and it sounds terrific and is fully integrated with the Delco radio controls. What I like the most is that the random button actually works randomly to choose selections from among all 12 discs. (Other units I've had in other cars only chose selections randomly from the disc that was playing. The other thing I had done was to have the unit installed in the rightmost rear storage well instead of the center well. Since I have a Lloyd mat covering the entire hatchback area, it's a lot easier to lift up just the corner of the mat to change discs in the rightmost well. Nice job for about $500.
What brand and model number changer did you have installed?
I don't know. I thought it was going to be a Delco but I'm not sure what it is. I'm gonna have to ask the installer. I'm not that concerned as long as it works as it should and it sure seems to. It probably is a Delco. When I find out for sure, I'll post it. Bottom line is that they convinced me to go with a CD changer at this point instead of a more convoluted and less integrated MP3 or i-pod solution. I really like the seamless integration with the radio control buttons.
i dont know.........cd changers are being phased, real quick like too. i couldnt find one cd changer for pioneer that played mp3 discs. when i inquired,i was told that :they are being phased out, goodbye. 1 mp3 disc will play 6 discs worth, etc and even this is being phased. go ipod or a like product. holds wayyyyyyyyy more than a changer, less hassle, more economical and you will become very used to it,imho brightside,500 is pretty recoverable
oh yeah......i forgot, if your from NYC,,,,, just avoid Canal st. if you must, purchase your products, and get the h e double hockey outta dere, and get them installed somewhere u trust, believe me
Well, I'm more into the convenience of the thing. Ipods and mp3's require you to get your music somewhere, then they don't really interface through your radio buttons and display on your radio display. Nope, for now (until the day comes that all that new fangled stuff integrates seamlessly with the radio), I'll take the good old CD changer. It is integrated perfectly through my radio. I like it.
