You know I asked a simple question about fuel cards. The service manager called them that so I quoted him in my post Never seen so many rude and childless replies before. Thanks to Zilla for his responce.
Thanks Zilla. I guess this means that my 2004 is no better than the prior years and I should (may) look forward to some new problem down the road. It doesn't seem to be critical as long as you always keep the tank relatively full (i.e., don't drive more than 300 miles before refilling - and ignore the fuel gauge if it starts acting up).

Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I didn't see so many rude responses (of course I didn't read them all). And welcome to the forum.
Our fuel cards just died with 20,000 miles on the car. The three year warranty ran out in February and they want $1500.00 to replace them. We had issues since day one with them. But they say this is different and not covered under past service issues. Now the gas gauge works intermittently.
Can anybody help us on this.
Switching brands of gasoline may help. I had problems with my gas gauge. I switched brands and the problem disappeared. Also Chevron has a gas additive called "Techron" which and be purchased and poured into the gas tank with any fuel. Hope this helps. I now use Mobil gas.
GM called my dealer and now say they will replace the fuel sender cards for the labor cost @ $450.00 instead of the original $1500.00. Guess we will do it.
