I don't have lid rattle just road noise. I installed vert partition from Exotic Vette - cut noise by 75*

A partition will definitely help out.

Picked one up from pfyc.com and it works out great.

A partition is highly recommended

We haven't had any so far from our vert. I don't know if the following service bulletin might cover your problem or not:

1998 Convertible: Service Bulletin: Tonneau Cover Makes Noise When Going Over Bumps

Also, I would suggest that you update your profile to add the model year of your vert or post the model year when asking questions. This could help others here when trying to assist you with your questions.

Good luck with the fix.

Also check out Ecklers for a partition.

And don't believe what is said about noticing a BIG difference in sound quality as is advertised.

First off, if your top is down, the tonneau and top mechanism block about 80% of the rear speakers which pretty much eliminates any sound coming from them.

Secondly, the partitions that have a foam backing (facing the driving compartment) absorb sound rather than reflect it. I find it ironic that the piece is advertised as a sound insulator, but on the driver's side of it, supposidly it improves your stereo sound. How does it absorb on one side, yet reflect on the other?

Other than that, they are a nice insulator between you and the trunk compartment.

Regarding your trunk lid rattle. It sounds to me like an adustment is necessary.

You didn't say with the roof up or down... I had the same problem only with the roof down and found out that it was attributed to the rubber pads that are between the roof chassis and the lid... I added a couple of extra pads and it cured my issue.... If it makes noise with the roof up I would say you could probably adjust it to the deck a bit better and see if that helps... Good luck...

Also make sure your latches are either in the full open or close postion when the top is down. I left mine half way and had a noticeable rattle when driving.

I had a rattle that turned out to be the little black plastic flap for the convertible top hinge point. Had to bend the hinge a little on the plastic flap to get it to fit flush when the top was down so the air would not rush beneath it and make it rattle at speed. Don't know if this is your problem but check to make sure you don't have much of a gap on the leading edge on both sides.

Check the underside of the cover for rub marks caused from the tops frame when the top is down. MIne was rubbing causing the sqeeck your hearing. Glued a thin piece of rubber on the underside of the cover where the whitness marks were no more noise.
