Default Questions from a noob

Hi all
A quick question about active handling - is this a huge advance in technology, or is the standard traction control generally sufficient? Also, how difficult is it to add HUD? I am looking at a '98 without either and would appreciate any and all input.

Thanks,
Chris

It depends on your driving habbits, I always turn off my traction control when I "Test out the throttle Response " But Active handeling is a little bit more technical.
As far as HUD, I wouldn't imagine the install would be to difficult,However, I'm not sure if the computer will have the hook ups or the compatibility so there may be some re-programing required
Best of Luck

Here is a thread for you:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ll&forum_id=53

As the thread says, member "Pacethis" can hook you up and give you details about the installation. It looks like the cost for parts should run you 400-500 bucks.

Here is also a tech tip about the installation:

Active handling is a lot more than traction control. Traction control only works on the drive wheels. If slip is detected, the electronic brake control module (EBCM) has the PCM reduce engine power by retarding timing and shutting down injectors, if this is not enough, the EBCM will apply brakes to the slipping wheel(s).

Active handling is broken into two different modes. In one mode, when the car is starting to under or oversteer, the EBCM will activate the front brakes to correct the problem. The other mode may kick in during a high-speed turn, the EBCM will hold brake pressure on the inside wheel while increasing pressure to the outside rear wheel. Both of these modes will kick in if required.

Here's an interesting in-depth article on the Active handling (Option JL4) worth reading...

I have a '98 with AH, and I'm glad I have it. It's saved my dumbazz a couple of times when I got a little over-exuberant with the loud pedal.
