Default Tire sensor question

I have a 99 vet with 26,000 miles . My dash keeps telling me the RR Tire is flat. Zero pressure. Well when I check, it has 30 ppi. Do I need a new sensor? Do the sensors have a battery to replace? Help.

You might have a bad sensor. You can try the reset procedure found here:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=77&TopicID=1

They have batteries, but are not user replaceable. They are a sealed unit. You can either purchase new ones or you can try replacement (refurbished) from here:

Not true, they are user replaceable, I replaced the batts in all 4 of mine. Just need a dremel with a wire brush, the replacement battery, soldering tools and then some PC7 from home depot to reseal them back up.

Good for you. I guess I should have said that they are not replaceable by the "average user", which includes me. User replaceable to me would ordinarily indicate...step one open cover marked batteries....step two replace batteries....step three replace cover marked batteries.

Quite frankly, until I see some long term ( 5 to 7 year) results on the replacement of these like Neri is doing, I'm still not buying it.

The batteries in the TPM sensors were not designed to be user serviceable! Anything can be user serviceable if you butcher the sh*t out of it, spent HOURS trying to repair it and have some success. Several members have reported some success at replacing batteries after much practice, and Nericreations will re-build them for you for about $30 less than new (per sensor). IMHO, it's not worth the trouble! Others obviously feel otherwise (which is fine - no flame intended).

Butcher the crap out of it? Lets see- my replacement of my batteries was my first attempt. The replacement was very clean and even when mounted on the rim with the tire not on the rim you cannot tell I've rebuild them.

I had 100% success and so far they've worked reliabily on my DD for the past 6K miles, I see no reason for them not to continue to work. Total time spent- 1.5 hours (ok 2 hours including the 30 min I spent at home D). By the 4th sensor, I've gotten it down to 10 minutes each sensor.

Total cost $3 each battery x 4, $4 for the PC7 + tools I already have. At $50 a pop even the necreations, I'm saving $190. Never mind the $120+ price for them new. Not to mention the feeling of success of my own repair. IMO for me, maybe not others- it is was WELL worth the "trouble".

Then more power to you my friend. As I said, no flame intended.
