Has anyone tried the West Coast Corvettes' (and perhaps others') Sound Killer panels that go in the opening behind the seats in Verts? I am curious how well they work and if the "50th Shale" is the same color as the "shale" in my 04 CE.
The next question (which I think I know the answer to) is whether they will work with seat hoops? It appears that they won't but I'd like confirmation of that.
Anyone care to comment?

many people have done the Frost King Mod. Search for that for an alternative to what yu are doing.
From what I've determined, Frost King is an altogether different approach to sound attenuation. More effective perhaps, but also more expensive, heavier (I would assume), and much more difficult to install. The Frost King approach also doesn't help with the wind in the "trunk" (which can cause havoc if you have lots of loose, light stuff in there), or block the view of passers-by snooping/looking into that area.
Any other ideas?

I considered the Sound Killer but heard they also muffle the stereo since they are mounted in front of the rear speakers. I instead went with a convertible partition from Exotic Vette, a supporting vendor. It installs in your trunk and is behind your speakers. It reduces exhaust noise and maybe a little road noise. You'll be able to hear your stereo more clearly. Here's a link:

I wasn't crazy about the sound killers. After I bought them I put hoops in and I thought they were difficult to deal with especially when I put the top down.

I've got Dan's (Exotic Vette) partition, pre cut insulation kit and also leather covered Sport hoops. Most everything works fine with the exception of the Rt side Vert top rails that pass way too close to the leather hoop when raising the top. That, I'm working on. Top somehow needs to be shifted 1/4".
We are talking about two different approaches to killing road/exhaust/tire noise in a vette. One is a partition. Like this:
The vert partition looks slightly different and may block the rear speakers, I'm not sure if that's true on all vert partitions. You'd want to ask before buying.
These are made for both a coupe and a vert.
The second method is to add more sound deadening material under the carpet. Like this:
Personally from my experience Frost King is a cheap but partially effective method. If your going to do it do it right. Use a product like DynaMat that is designed for the job. As you can see in the photo I ran out of DynaMat. Since I had the car apart and needed to finish it I ran up to Lowe's and bought some Frost King. Huge difference in the two products. I'm going to buy some more DynaMat from eBay (36 sq feet for around $125 shipped) to re-do that area I used Frost King on and to finish the area directly behind the seats and console (that's where all the noise is coming from now).
Good luck and these are easy and effective DIY mods that really make driving your vette much more relaxing.

It's not the "best" and no one has ever claimed it to be. But it does fill a niche for those looking for these specifics.
