The center console door is cracking and the armrest areas of both door panels are cracking and wrincling. To do it right I guess I need a new console cover and door panels. Right now I can't afford that. Anyone know a low cost solution. I saw someone was selling padded armrests for the door panels. Could you tell me where to get those? And for the center console cover. Thank you.

The 2nd day I had mine, I dropped the glass top on my armrest, NEVER AGAIN! The vinyl cracked, thanks god the top didn't break! I took it to a local upolstery shop that has done a few vert tops for me. He told me that the factory wrap is a pain to get off, so he just taped the crack an re-wrapped it. It looked like crap at first, but after sitting the car outside for about a week, it heated up and no one can tell.

What do you mean by "taped the crack an re-wrapped it?" Did he use tape on the crack? What sort of tape?
I see that VETTE ESSENTIALS is also selling armrests. Is there any difference between the two or is it the same manufacturer? I remember the one who invented these things was active on one of these forums. Is he here?

Vette Essentials sells the padded armrests for the door panel. You can pick up a new console lid from a place like the Karshop and get it probably at a reasonable price.
I'm not sure, I could see the tape for a few days after. I guess the sun and heat tightened up the vinyl because it's not noicable now.
Do I understand you correctly? They applied piece of tape to the outside, over the tear and eventually the tape melted into the vinyl and you can't see where the edges of the tape were or where the tear was? Boy that must be great tape! I'd love to know where to get some.

All I could find is Gene's Kar Shop. Is that the one? If not what's the url?

No you didn't...what he said was they taped the hole shut....then they reupholstered it over the top of the taped repair!

No, apparently not. He taped the crack and then re-wrapped it. Sorry, I thought I explained it correctly. It worked great, if you don't believe me, I'll take a pic. YOU CAN"T TELL AT ALL!
