Default SOP Improvements

The weather here in Colorado has finally broken, the car's out of storage and the winters stash of mods has mostly been installed. Got the car back from the shop yesterday with the Ti catback, B&B shorty headers, Hypertech 180 thermostat, Z51 front & rear sways and iradium plugs installed. I had already added a K&N filter and late model Z06 air box.

My seat of the pants opinion, nice improvement in power and sound! I like the sound alot, a little more throaty but still very tolerable.

Still to come, the Piaa's, frost king mod, Hypertec programming and B&M ripper.

I am not a modaholic!

How did you like your shorty headers. I am getting mine installed as I sit here and type! I have Borla Stingers, with x pipe, Varaam 2b and soon to get it dyno tuned. Did you notice a difference after your shortys were installed. Also, How much did you pay if you do not mind me asking. The guy told me low 300.00 or high 600.00! I hope I am in the right price range.

Thanks in advance.

freemanjc,

I'm very pleased with the sound and added power of the shorties and ti's. I would have prefered long tubes and the x pipe but wanted to be able to put it back to stock if the need arose. So far no resonance or popping.

I don't have the workorder in front of me, but it was toward the high side. I had new iradium plugs, thermostat, gaskets and ti mufflers installed and they re-welded the exhaust flanges on the h-pipe, (one side was broken, the other about to break). Parts and labor were $890.

I still need to install the B&M ripper which I'll do in conjunction with the frost king mod, hopefully this week. I also have new leather seat covers to install. I have a Hypertech programmer, but may go the dynotune route. The closest tuner is 175 miles from here, so it may get put on hold for a while.

I am sure you'll love 'em.

Jake

PS don't forget to add the performance hood seal!

I did forget the hood seal. I am probaly the only C5 owner that does not have one! I am so excited, to bad I have to wait until thursday until it is ready. They are slow around here. So what is next LS6 intake? I have heard mixed reviews with changing them out, but from what I am understanding is that on 97 and 98 models seems to make better results with mods than 99 on up with the Intakes. I am not sure why or if it is even tru, but the mod bug has hit me and I am pumping it in my veins with a seringe(SP)

Leave the LS6 manifold until you do a H/C. Little to no imporvement uintil capacity of stock is exceeded, like with a H/C package. Sounds like you're on the road though. Congrats.

Yeah . . . We all start out in denial!

Have you started slipping the UPS driver a six-pack or two to have him hide the packages in the bushes? . . . Are you sneaking out at night in your boxers to dig the packages out of the bushes and stash 'em in the garage behind the Christmas decorations? . . . Do you give your wife cash to go shopping on weekends? (so you can install the mods before she sees them) . . . Do you find yourself mumbling in a code-like lingo your wife can't make any sense out of? . . . Things like MAFS, PCM, WOT, x-pipes, long-pipes, air bridge, HUD, CATs, DIC, M6, M12, A4, C5, Z51, ZR1, Z06, LS1, L98, RWHP, HRE's? . . . Do you know words like Zaino, Lingenfelter, Borla, and Kooks? Can you spot a C5 coming at you from 2-1/2 miles away? Hey, you're an addict!

Stand up like a man and face your addiction! There’s a very dedicated support group meeting next Saturday at Hooters in Dublin, California . . . Hi, my name is Dave . . . And ummmm . . I’m a modaholic! WELCOME! Pass the hot wings!
