The HUD windshield is different and more expensive than the regular one. Not sure on the price, but $1500 or more sounds like a number I have heard before. You can talk to a glass shop on whether or not fine scratches can be polished out.
Just another reason not to drive the car in the rain or snow. Wipers that have dirt or small stones in the mix can scratch your windshield when it wipes. The same with snow or using a snow scraper.

1. Is there anyway to get rid of all the scratches? They look like, ice scraper scratches; they go in all different directions.
2. Is it a different windshield if you have a HUD?
3. What does it cost to replace one?
Thanks!
It they are light scratches they may be able to polish out...check with your local Harmon auto glass (or perhaps other do it as well). I am suppose to get mine done one of these days...wiper marks. A lot of folks add HUD to their non-hud cars...I haven't read if they are changing the windshield, or if the difference matters.
If you get a new windshield, you may also consider a Z06 windshield, which is slightly ligher. I think 4 lbs or something like that, but not absolutely positive on the number.
i had 4x4 truck that had lots of scratches on the windshield from the mud. really couldn't see that well at night. so thought what the hell i'll try it . its called scratch out i put it on heavy and took a buffer and got to work. but like i say it was on my truck. if your thinking about replacing it what will it hurt to try?

That's the reason I never use the windshield washers. I still have the origional washer fluid in my 85 Oldsmobile.

A few years ago, I scratched up my Z28's windshield pretty bad (don't ask). Just before having it changed, I decided to try some basic auto paint scratch remover. Started with a small scratch in the corner, which completely disappeared! Then did the entire windshield, with amazing results. Make a long story short, it took about 15 minutes, the windshield looked like new, and no distortion whatsoever when looking out.
Disclaimer: the scratches were just light surface scratches, not deep grooves. Good luck!
