Default Asking for modification help

Hey guys, I want to fix up my vette a little bit to try to get a little more power out of it. I have a 2000 frc 6-speed with around 23k miles and so far I was thinking about the following mods

catback
catted x-pipe
intake
cam
ls1 edit

I am not sure on brands yet, looking for recommendations. I also am not sure about the x-pipe. I live in cali and dont wanna run catless, and I wasnt sure if highflow cats would even pick up any power. I was also thinking about a 100 wet shot, any suggestions? Also, how much life will the nitrous take off my engine? I drive the car almost everyday so streetablilty is key, and I dont usually drive hard but when people try to race I usually dont back down

thanks
Ben

Most bang for the buck is the intake: Halltech is good, as are Blackwing & Vararam. Be aware, though, that some smog stations will flunk you if you have an open-element filter.

If you want to pick up some power start with the bolts ons:

air intake: the vararam with get you the most power

catback: your choice, it is all about the sound you want

long tube headers: swap to long tube headers for better exhaust flow. some brands to look at are kooks, LG, dynatech, stainless works. Your choice depends on cost and where you want to take the car in the future. By the way, long tube headers are illegal in cali, so i dont know what you want to do about these. running catless compared to running high-flow cats wont get you much hp. may 2-5 extra hp.

tune: you always should get a tune to maximize power gains after mods

This package should get you about 40rwhp and torque. Try that see if it is enough and then crack into the engine block.

You know you really are rolling the dice on the visual inspection in California. And if you change cams you may blow the sniff test also. I have not lived there for a long time but I follow the posts. Before you change anything get some recommendations for what inspection station to go to from some fellow Californians on the forum.

Cali emissions are very strict. If you are sticking with the stock manifolds there is no reason to upgrade to hi-flow cats. Most popular cam brands are LG, futral, thunder racing. I live in Mass and need to maintain emissions standards so if I upgrade i would probably go with a futral 226/226 .581 114 lsa. Good for close to 45rwhp and very streetable. If you want some kick azz power go with the LG G5X3 cam. That bad boy is sick, up to 60-70rwhp gains.

I am not worried about passing smog, I just did smog so I wont have to for another 2 years. I just want to pass visual for cops, not for the actual smog station.

How much power will I gain if I use highflow cats vs no cats vs stock?

Is the LG G5X3 a streetable cam? How is idle?

thanks for all the good info guys

Ben
