If passed it would take effect 1 Sept 05, so read into what you want but all plates (Plate) issued after that date will require rear display. If you were issued 2 plates they still require you to display both. Once the law is changed I don't think they will go after anyone without a front plate, however, there are ways around it. Go get vanity plates (plate) issued on Sept 1.
If it does indeed pass, only the most **** pr!&k LEO would ticket you for it.
My basic registration for last year was $58.50 so I see no change, of course they add reflector fee & county bridge & road fee so my total was $69 and change.
Of course you could be in California where I think a fairly new Vette would be in the hundreds yearly

The text of the bill looks like you don't have to display both plates, even if you were issued two (it's un-enforceable as well):
A person may operate
on a public highway a vehicle that displays two license plates if
both plates were assigned by the department for the registration
period as a set of plates.

That is correct. The provisions of the bill stipulate that only one plate will be ISSUED after the effective date of Sept. 1 (if passed). It goes on to explain that 2 plates are to be issued up until the effective date. There is NO caviat stating that plates issued prior to Sept. 1st must be run front and back. The bill make the REQUIREMENT one plate in rear for ALL cars. YIPPIE!!!!!! Now let us pray -----
Good news.. good news... I finally dont' have to worry about putting the front plate on... because never had one. (bought the car with only 1 plate on the back)
Anyone know a good way of tracking the progress of this bill. I've been studying the original draft. Sounds like some changes have been made. Hope it doesn't get changed out of existence.
Yes, the law requires that you display one to the front and one to the rear.

However if you note in the bill,, if 1 plate is issued it must be on the rear,, if 2 were issued you must use both. I don't know how someone would know 2 plates were issued unless registration indicates it. Otherwise the bill indicated 9/1/05. Search of current DMV law changes did not show this bill was approved or in place. That doesn't mean it won't,, but as of 5/27,, it doesn't show up.
Glad I live in La and don't need the front plate. The C6 is with the front plate. 99 Nassau Blue
Sorry guys, but the Senate took this provision out of the bill. It has gone back to the House and they did not accept the Senates amendments. So now it is on to a conference committee.
Contact your Senators and Representatives and ask them to put the provision back in the bill. Still not too late but we only have this weekend. They shut down the show on Monday.
