Battery Voltage question
Yesterday morning I was greeted by a almost dead battery---i.e. won't start, no windows etc. I put it on an automatic charger --12-amp--for 24 hrs. Meter on charger down in less-than-trickle area., but battery voltage only 11.7---is this an indication of bad cell, tired out battery or what?

A bad or low something. Take it in for a "free battery check." Some batteries need a "Zap" to get them started charging (although not standard lead-acids). What battery are you using? Stock?

It's the Diehard Gold Series that was in the car (97) when I got it last Nov. Re. the hurricane(s) we only lost most of our roof and half of the lanai enclosure was on the sub roof the other half was in our pool. We live in a house that was built within the last ten years and under the new hurricane building code. Within a mile or so people lost EVERYTHING. Many still living in motorhomes and small trailers. Can't get material to repair. No concrete or roof tiles in many areas. Still a sad situation. Don't want to experience it again---we stayed here---not enough time to get clear of it.
