Went out to the store in my 98 M6. When I tried to leave the car would not start.. I removed the key waited 10 seconds and tried again. It turned over and fired but died. This happened about 6 times and it wouldn't stay running. No codes but did get the service column lock message. The steering column never locked but does the security do anything to the gas flow?
The computer is programmed to reduce the gas flow when there is a security fault, but under those circumstances I believe it will idle OK, but if you try to move then it reduces the gas.
If the voltage of the battery gets low it can cause this too if you still have the original delco side post then you need a new battery - the positive terminal posts like to self destruct and leak acid. If you have a replacement AGM type battery they like to just go dead a lot.
CLB - just install the bypass- problem gone- < 30minutes
Got my CLB from Corvettes of Houston. Easy to follow instructions and should not happen to me ever. BTW- I never did have a problem, saves having the car towed to dealer and they don't fix the problem.
I have read about the battery problem as well. Perhaps the service column lock and the battery could be causing a problem. Hope you get the car fixed with minimal cost or aggravation.

Well, I cleaned both keys - the resistor - and went to try the vert. At first, same thing as above. Waited a minute and tried the second key and she started and ran fine. Evidence would say that it was the key but I'm not entirely sure. It's not the original battery but I don't know how old it is. It looks fine but.... I think I'll pickup a new battery today just to eliminate that from the equation.
Anyways, it's home in the garage filthy from sitting out in a new develpment where they are still building. Dust/Dirt. It really felt wrong not having the vette in the garage last night.
Well, I replaced the battery and now I'm right back where I started. Won't run. Same symptoms. Damn! I guess I'll call the stealer in the morning and have them tow it in.
