Default Radiator hose

If you remember my coolflex rad.hose story about it slipping off going down the hwy and making a total mess of the engine compartment? My mechanic assures me that he got it on right this time but I'm a nervouse wreck when I'm driving, so I think I better get rid of it. So are there any neat hoses out there though I would love to have mag red hoses on my engine, I can't find any. I just don't want to use the original ugly hose when I've spent so much on the rest of the engine. I hope you guys/gals can help.
thanks. Doug
P.S. I need a power steering etched chrome cap from Design Specialties, if anyone has one laying around.

Maybe it was just installed wrong the first time. Where did it disconnect from? I was planning on buying some coolflex hoses for my 67 Camaro. They look great.

It was the upper hose at the radiator and apparently it was installed wrong only because all connections have to be perfectly dry and free of the coolant because the coolant is very slippery. So it eventually just slid off and i"m afraid of that happening again. It might fit differently on a Camaro.

As long as it was done right the second time you should be fine. I remember when i had my belt replaced on my c4. When the mechanic put it on he must have used too much muscle and put a small tear in it. I didn't notice until it broke. I took it back to the guy and he put a new belt on for free of course. But i always had to check the belt cause i was so pariniod of it happening again.

The problem is...yes collant is very slippery however the reducers that come in the kit from CoolFlex has a coating on them that allows them to slip on easy...also slips off easy. You need to clean these with something that will breakdown the the coating( I used brake cleaner) then it is tough to get on but will not slip off. both areas need to be clean. Also many people make the mistake of not putting this on properly at the top of the rad. If you look the neck on the rad has a downward angle on it....the coolflex needs to bend down then afte about 2" slowly start the bend back up and curve toward the block. I found out the hardway as well but now no problems at all.
Keep the coolflex they look great. Just get someone to install it that will take his time and do it correctly or better yet do it yourself

they sell coolflex for way too much. But it is nice. I have seen lots of them come off at big rod runs. MUST be dry and clean, use brakeclean on the rubber to gt it clean. Iceberg is right....

my Coolflex has been on for 2 1/2 years now - but I made certain that everythign was coolant free before installation.

Coolflex is a neat product - but I wish it was about 40% less expensive.

Jim, Iwrote down your instructions from my last thread and gave them to my mechanic. I will see him Monday night corvette club meeting and I will ask again what he did to prep. Do you have to tighten the screws often; I do whenever I drive. How tight should the clamp screws be? Thanks Doug
