Well I took my 8500 out for a test drive yesterday and with exception of a few strays...didn't pick up much. But I did notice the reflection of the platnium finish on the windshield and curious if those sporting the 8500 get used to it or figure out some way to reduce the glare.
I usually put mine up high too. However, I guess I never really noticed the glare. I have had several escort detectors and always upgrade to the lastest model. I love my blue readout 8500 X50.
Placement is important.. too low or too high and the "eye" doesnt get
maximum exposure. remember it has to be able to "see" thru the back window/rear. Just below the rearview mirror is the best. I've picked up radar on my 8500 from not only around a corner but from as far as 2+ miles away.
Tint really shouldn't make a big difference. South Carolina and Hawaii TINT limitations are about the same. mounting just underneath the rearview mirror should be ideal for the coupe (as mentioned previously).
Anyone out there know what the best wiring is out there to hard wire the detector? I really get tired of the coiled cable haning down.
