Buy American?

...."and then, as if a light had been turned on, jpc0011 realized that the dealer screwed him and there was no such thing as a 400 hp Corvette Civic with a V-tec powerplant"....

). Of course if we could produce goods cheaper than other countries I'm certain WM would purchase 'inhouse' but we've got to pay salaries large enough for our citizens to afford Corvettes!
Would you be willing to work for .50 an hour to see only american products in our stores?
Its true, we ARE living in a global economy. I don't think we'll ever go back.
Even though, I will buy-american if given the choice. Unfortunately what is offered on the shelves doesn't always afford a choice thanks to Nixon and Clinton and the congress voting China Most-Favored-Nation status during Clinton administration.
Just yesterday I bought a 150# torque wrench. I could've easily gone to Harbor Freight and picked up a chinese knock-off for peanuts. Instead I purchased "Made in USA" from Sears.
As far as seeing "Made in Japan" on the back of the dash, I'd much rather see that than "Made in [communist] China."

Not to get philosophical, but no it doesn't!?
Every single company that makes a part for the corvette makes a profit on that part, or they wouldn't make it and would not be in business.
So, while GM's profit stays here, the profit on any pieces goes to the companies that make those components.
