I have been shopping for a 1998 coupe, and have seen some very low mileage 15 to 20 K vettes, is there any way to varify that the odometer readings are legit. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I have a friend that just turned 2,000 miles on his 2003 anniversary convertible. He bought the car in September 2002. My X-son in law has 23,000 miles on his 1998 convertible.

Not too uncommon to find very low mileage Vettes. Like mentioned above, a check of the mileage when service was performed should give you a good idea if the reading is correct.
Thats my favorite part about buying a used Vette. Someone buys the car for $50k drives it around on Sundays, covers it, keeps it in the garage in showroom shape and then trades it in 3-5 years later with no miles. Then I come along and get a "used" (almost new) showroom condition Vette for $20-25k off sticker.
That is the best deal in the world. IMHO
Keep it up. I see a 2007 C6 in my future in 2011 for 25k.
98s with 9 k...19..18... this is UNREAL!!!! do you guys not get tempted to just jump in and take it for a long cruize????? or do you guys have more then one vette and have one for daily driving the other with low low miles

the Question was about mileage not accidents. I agree carfax can be inaccurate about accidents. My wife wrecked her van to the tune of 2500 bucks and never showed up on carfax. Mileage, however, gets reported with each sale, registration, emmissions and most dealer repairs so its simple to detect a Ralph Rollback Auto Sales vehicle. I would tend to have faith in Carfax for mileage but as President Ronald Reagan once said, Trust But Verify!
