I have a used Z06 cluster that I want to put in my 2002 vert but the Z06 cluster has 12,000 miles on it and my vert has 6520 miles. I am not trying to do anything Ilegal but just want to keep it straight. Any help would be apreciated.

I just went through the same thing and here's what I did.
This will intimidate some people, but I'll assure you it isn't as hard as it sounds. What you have to do is swap the circuit boards inside the cluster unit. The odometer reading is flashed on an e-prom on the circuit board. When you swap the circuit boards, the odometer reading goes with it. Bingo, you have your odometer reading back!

Did you ask the dealer how they reset the mileage when a warranty claim comes in for a replacement cluster? Maybe they contract it out and you could get the contractor to do it. Otherwise, try another GM dealer.
I just went through this. I tried 2 dealers and both said take the cluster to their parts dept. and the cluster will be sent to a speedometer shop in Dallas to reset it. I think the suggestion of swapping out the boards is the easiest since you have to take the back of the cluster off to swap the bulb location anyway.

When I added HUD to my 99, I had to change the cluster and have it reprogrammed. The dealers in central FL ( where I was living at the time) all sent their clusters to a place in Tampa, so I drove over and had it done there. I don't remember their name, but you can get in touch with Mike Norris at Next Level Performance, and he can tell you.
I recently had my insturment cluster replaced under warranty. When I took it into the dealership because one of the lights inside of the cluster had burned out they told me that they had to order the cluster and they would call me when it came in. When they finally called me I had put an additional 2,000+ miles on the car, when I picked my car after the repair they had taken the 2,000 miles off. They reprogrammed the milage to match when I had brought the car in for the repair the first time. It was a mistake in my favor, but there is definitely a way to reprogram the cluster.
If you want I can walk you through over the phone, how to swap out the chip boards so you dont have to program anything. Fairly easy my take 15min or so.
That's cool I will try to switch the pc boards. It does not seem to be to hard. Thanks!
The only trick you need to know is how to remove the three terminal ribbons.
It's easy. You will see two little plastic tabs on each side, where the ribbon enters the cluster. Just pull back on the tabs and the ribbon will slide out. Be sure the taps are locked again when you put your new (original) board back in. Tug on them lightly to be sure they're locked. That's it!

LV_2_XLR8 is 100% correct. I've done it -----and it works perfectly. Walla....no having to mess w/ speedo shops, dealers, etc.
