Default ? Wheel wax

Is there anything that can be put on factory wheels to make the brake dust come off easier with wheel cleaner.
I think there was a discussion about this a while back, but I can't find it.

Thanks

Slightly off subject answer but... if you don't track the car swap your brake pads out for the Delco Ceramics. The ceramic pads make very little dust and for street driving the stoppng power is still great. To answer your question I waxed my wheels, while they off during the ceramic pad install, with McGuires Gold Class paste wax. Now it's very easy to clean what little dust does accumulate.

I use "NXT" on the wheels each washing. A good wheel cleaner knocks the dust off with ease.

I bought some wheel wax at the Tire Rack. The stuff is great! This stuff claims to change the surface polarity of the wheels, so it repels brake dust.

You're saying it works as advertised ??
Hmm, might be worth trying.

I just started using wheel wax about two months ago. It is definitely a high quality product. I've had some on my Z06 wheels for the past few weeks and I do not have the same dust build up as usual. It also makes the wheels easier to clean. When the dust finally does build up, it comes right off with water.

The only downside to wheel wax with the factory Z06 wheels is that it is a pain-in-the-*** to apply. It is a VERY thick wax that is not easy to get off at times. Other than that, I'd definitely advise you to buy some.

I just Zaino my wheels when I do the paint. Zaino is anti-static, and makes a considerable difference.

i was wondering about this also the last few days. I found that using a wet rag help take the brake dust off. Its hard as hell to take the brake dust off with a dry towel.

It does actually. I'm impressed with it. As long as you keep it waxed and don't use something to clean the wheels that strips off the wax, the brake dust should just wash off with a hose.
