We have a dyno day every month or so at one of the regular shops in San Diego (not a vette shop) and ALL the Cobra's are putting down 400-475rwhp. There's almost NEVER one that's less than 375 rwhp.....and there are always a lot of Cobras there.
Now I know that's not a lot to my FI C5 brothers......but to us NA guys that makes those cars very difficult to beat.
I know. I figure I'm missing maybe 20rwhp or so with my lacking of a good tune.....
I was supposed to take it up to A&A a while ago but i just haven't got around to it.
You do need the tune. I'm making right at 330 rwhp with almost the same mods as you. I got pulled by a cobra claiming 445 rwhp with the smaller pulley and exhaust by about a car length through those same speeds but I have an auto and 3:15's. The tune will make a huge difference. At least it did for my sluggish auto. They are fast in a straight line no doubt.

i was 50/50 at one point dtermining to buy whether an 03-04 cobra or a vette.. I had the mod plans picked out for both cars.. for 1900 bux the cobra would be putting around 470rwhp..
i contemplated and thought, and overall you can only use that power very rarely ie the track and occasional stupid racing. But for 95% of the time you're either driving a mustang or a corvette.. thinking in that perspective, its a NO BRAINER!
305 rwhp? Sorry, but you've got some serious bugs to work out. I smoked a 402rwhp cobra at the dragstrip with my 288+hp a4 3.15 reared '99 vert. I have only added a predator, vararam, velocity stack and corsa indies since my 288hp dyno. I run 8.45's in the 1/8th. I am probably at least 310 at the rear wheels now. 305 means go back to the drawing board.
Not trying to sound like a *****, but your car should be stronger than it is.

Good call and I agree 100%. And that's also why I bought the bottle.......for that "other 5%" of the time....

I was in the same exact position myself 2 years ago. Good point on how often are you going to use all that power. I don't street race or go to the track that often (limited budget to always be replacing broken parts ) so the vette was plenty of car for me.
plus as someone here said "there will always be a faster car"
If I were in his shoes I would not go out and spend extra money on more mods to go and beat a Cobra...what if the Cobra does more mods ..around and around its a vicious circle

I'm done with "go fast" mods. Like I said......I wanna get my bottle installed for those "special occasions"......and them that's it. If you've got a faster car.....more power to ya!
And with the bottle......I won't be running people hardly ever. I'll most likely just give them a Purge and a Smile.......

When the C6 Z06 comes out in a couple of months, who'll be whining then?
So who cares if the Cobra is faster or put down more HP its still a Ford. We have Vettes which are now and always in a league of their own.
kind of a stupid comment... but anyways....

posts like this are soooo much worse though!!!
are you really serious?? are you proud of beating that cobra?? i would never even post that as a comparison. post the timeslip... was the cobras 60ft something like 2.2-2.3?? how about the trap speed... still 120+ im sure. that cobra obviously had a horrible run to get beat by you.
not trying to sound like a *****, but your car will get beat by a cobra with 400+ rwhp. and when you win, its because something went wrong with the other car!
