Had a Hurst short shifter installed recently with the OEM shift ****.I love the shift characteristics but the vibration and associated noise bothers me.Any suggestions for best of both worlds including other after market shifters.Look forward to your learned replies.Kind regards
Been talked about many times already. Try the forum search function. But, there are many fixes that will reduce or eliminate the dreaded "Rattle". Sometimes you need to do all of them to remove it.
The Hurst Rattle is a driveline harmonic that travels through the shifter and is amplified out the shifter ****. The **** acts like a speaker.
I have found using black electrical tape wrapped around the **** threads and the MGW Pistol Grip **** is great for reducing the rattle.
Having gone through several ***** back in 01 when I installed my first Hurst shifter, I found that the MGW line of ***** works in perfect harmony with the Hurst. In addition to looking and feeling good they screw down much further than most ***** lowering the **** height even more.
Thanks for your replies.Armed with this info it's back to the tuner shop. Are there other shifters to consider or is Hurst the best and worth continuing with mods? How about tranny lubes - running OEM or will a change assist my Hurst cause?Truly appreciate the practical experience you folks can provide.Kind regards
