Default My Run Flat, Went Flat!! Help!

Well it's been 10 years since I've had any kind of flat and today it finally happened.

My right front Goodyear Eagle runflat (EMT) P245-45ZR17 went flat. The message
board came on and gave me a countdown from 25 psi to FLAT. I was close to home so I
nursed it back to the house about 2 miles at 25 mph. I am hopeful that it can be repaired
but also afraid that it may have to be replaced.

The bad thing is we have plans to drive to Ocean "City MD this Thur and want to make sure
it's fixed before that. There is a tire dealer close by (1 mile) who services high performance
tires and I plan to take it there first thing tomorrow. Hopefully they can either fix it
or get me a new one very soon. This one had about 9,000 miles on it.

Any words of advice or suggestions about how to proceed? Anyone who's had similar
experiences I would like to hear from you so I try to have all my bases covered tomorrow
and get back on the road by Wed.

Thanks
Al

A proper plug/patch from the inside will work just fine. These tires retain their speed rating if patched properly. Just happened to me recently:

I have had several flats fixed at $20-$25. I've also been able to air it up and have it hold air long enough to get somewhere (I keep a small Wal-Mart compressor in all my vettes). In addition, I have driven from the National Corvette Museum to the Sears (8 miles or so) on a flat when the tire came off the bead and didn't have the "air power" to put it back on.

Try Discount Tires if you're near one. They patched one of mine (rear) and charged $8.00. And, they did it the right way (inside patch). As much business as these guys have, they can't help but have experience with EMT's. Good luck.

Default Runflats flat

I experienced the same thing and took it to the performance tires guys in my town and it was the pressure sensor that had come loose and was leaking air. They tightened it and sent me on my way (minus $25 for their trouble).

Twice for me....no problems UNLESS it's too close to sidewall

Inside patch is the answer and you should have no problems. BTW, you didn't have to "nurse it home" at 25 mph. Goodyear says they are good for 200 miles at 50mph.

The repair shop should be able to do a plug and patch job on the tire as long as the puncture was not in the sidewall or close to it. Once properly repaired, the tire should give you plenty of useful life still.
