Im new to this webiste and I greatly appreciate all the help and suggestions. This is my first corvette and it is a Red Targa 6 speed 2000 vette. Couple mods include corsa exhaust, intake ...
Now I just hit 31K miles on it and my FUEL gage completely went to 0%. I have filled the car up and the neadle droped to 0% after 10 mintues of normal driving. Any suggestions?
I read previous post in regards to adding TECHRON to your gass. I tried that today. I will post if that helps.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
thank you again for your time.
You've already done what most would suggest ... view past threads. And, it looks like you've made the correct choice. The Techron should clear up the problem. It did for me. And, buy good gas. The key to keeping the guage working properly is using gas with low sulpher content.
Mine did the same thing yesterday! Just driving down the road, more than 3/4 tank and the gauge goes to empty and the DIC dispayed "Low Fuel". Turned it off and back on -- Still at empty. Got home and turned it off and back on, then all was normal??? Not done it again since. My ignition switch sometimes sticks where it's not making complete contact and none of my gauges or dash lights work. But I just jiggle it a bit and everything comes on. The fuel gauge thing seems to have been something different -- Gauges didn't go off -- And DIC was reading the gauge as empty. I have no answers, just guesses . . . Bad fuel level sensor? . . . PCM glitch? Anybody else had this problem and figured out what it was?
Techron or BG-44K should help. Follow the instructions and just don't burn it out, let it sit in the tank for a few days. Usually one or two tanks does it for me. The best brand gas to use is Chevron, Shell Vpower and Texco.
Using nothing but Chevron, I've had this problem almost continuously for five years in my 2000 Coupe. I've had the fuel sensors and sending units replaced three times, and the problem always comes back. I've used Techron, and I always buy fresh gasoline from a busy station. No one has yet to give me a plausible reason for the fuel gauge instantly dropping to empty, but it's no fun on a long trip when you're out in the middle of nowhere where Jesus lost his shoes, and it appears you're on empty.
This Wednesday evening, I'm driving 850 miles to Fichtner Chevrolet to trade the car in on a DSOM Z51 Coupe, and as perfect as the car has been, the gas gauge will be on empty for half the trip. That's just the way it is.
