Ok, I bought my car used, but even when I first got it, it seemed like if you would weave back and forth, the thing felt glued to the road, and smooth. Now, if I do that, it feels really loose in the rear, and just not right, sometimes un safe. Only thing I can think of is that I have the EMT's on the front and regular radials on the back. Although, when I went up to Detroit last year, it was at night and I hit like 58 million pot holes, give or take one or two, and since then it hasn't felt as smooth or comfortable. Suspension just worn you think, the potholes kind of just finished it off?
I would not mix EMTs and non-EMTs, the EMTs have a different construction and that may be the cause of your problem. I remember when radials and bias ply tires were mixed they would behave like you described.

I'm thinking it is related to the different tires front and rear, but you may want to check your suspension too. Potholes can be rough on the components.

Man I was getting so ticked off while driving thru there, I couldn't believe how bad the roads were. Next time we go thru there, I am making my buddy drive his car
by the way, did it have all emt's when you first bought it and said it "felt glued to the road" ? or did you have the current tire set up at purchase time?
What about before you hit all those potholes? how did the car ride? same tire set up at that time?
Yeah, when I got the car it had EMT's all the way around, and the car felt a lot better. I will probably change the tires in the front soon and match them to the back. I also have a slight vibration, shake in the steering wheel now after hitting the700 potholes up north. Yeah, I will do tires first, then start trouble shooting from there

I would bet $ that's your problem. I had to "mix" for a few days until my new fronts came in and it handled like crap, it was all over the road.
I'm looking forward to getting rid of my EMT's, took 'er out for a spin yesterday and today and felt pretty rough on the road (nice switchbacks). CCW's should be here this week!
The mixed tires is probably the major culprit, but I have EMTs all around and when I first got the car it was also "glued to the road".
With wear of the EMTs, it seems to track the grooves in the road a lot more now. And, of course, I could have just gotten used to the car's handling. But wear seems to play a major part.
