Default Shifting problems

My car seems to have problemss going into 1st through fourth gear. It seems to not want to go into gear on normal shifts. However, the gears do not grind when shifting. I also have problems getting the car to go in reverse. It sat in my driveway for five minutes trying to get it reverse.

The clutch pedal also seems to engage at different pedal pressures. Do I have bent shift fork or is it the slave cylinder? I recently had a Spec II clutch installed about 4K miles ago. It also seems to have problems going into gear at high RPMs (Dragstrip).

Any thoughts?

When the car is standing still I have the same problem as you describe there. Doubling clutching doesn't help, but try to put it into one of the other gears and then back to the desired gear. That works for me.
There are no problems when driving.

For some reason this is quite common in different transmissions when standing still. WHen at a stop sign or traffice light I almost always try another gear before going into first.

I always put it in 3rd then to first to line everything up. If it's not grinding then the synchros are ok, if it's just hard you may have a bend shift fork, but remember these trans's don't always shift like butter, they're made to handle torque! Also try switching to a good synthetic trans fluid. I run Amsoil Dextron III ATF full syn.

It kind of sounds to me like you may need to bleed your clutch, it may be the clutch is not engaging all the way. Your slave could be just seeping a bit

I had the dealer replace the slave cylinder, but still the same problems. It's still hard just to slip into gears when driving, almost feels like you have to force it in when driving. However, it doesn't grind at all.

You need to find a dealer with a service tech that knows how to adjust the shifter linkage!! Remember, the tranny is in the back!! You need the 'stops' set to factory specs.
