I am currently looking in re - installing my old sound system into the vette that i jsut got. So What are the sizes for front and back for the bose premium system in a 01' c5?
Also where can i find a dash kit for it? (installing avic N1)
Last but not least. Can I re- use the cd changer on an aftermarket player?
1) Speaker sizes? I can't help you there
2) Mounting Bracket? I used forum member VrumVrum's bracket and faceplate. The bracket is machined out of 1/4 inch aluminum. The faceplate is also machined out of aluminum, shot peened (for texture), and anodized (for color, black). Since my interior is not black, I primed and painted the face plate to match.
3) CD changer? The factory CD changer is only compatible with the factory HU. Same thing goes for the factory CD changer wire harness. You'll have to replace both, if you get an after market HU. When I installed my AVIC-N1, I replaced my factory Pioneer CD changer with an after market Pioneer CD changer that was compatible with the AVIC-N1. The factory unit had the CD magazine on the left hand side, the after market unit had the CD magazine on the right hand side. The factory mounting bracket wasn't compatible with the after market CD changer. I fabricated wooden adapters, so I could use the factory bracket (it was rivoted to the fiberglass tub).
The front come with a 3.5" & 7" speaker, you can replace these with components that are up to 4" & 6.5". If you go above the 6.5" your selection of speakers will drop dramatically.
For the rears, you don't mention what you are driving so....
A 8" and 4" driver will fit in the door along with the tweeter. You can also use a Metra dash kit or Best kit. You will have to find ignition in another location because there is no ignition behind the radio. Also it is best to run new wires to everything then mess with the stock stuff.
