Has anyone tried Meguiar's line of waxing products?
To be completley honest with you guy's, this is my first car that has clear coat. I'm just wondering if it is safe to wax, and use the clay bar when having a clear coat?
I have not used Meguiars in quite a while, but it is a quality product. More importantly, clear coat will not be harmed by quality waxes, polishes and/or claybars. Just follow the directions and enjoy the result of your labor.
That's such great new's. I have had the car 2 weeks now and have only been washing it. It's been driving me crazy. I'll take some before and after pictures of my baby.
I use Meguiars. I have tried a few other products but none compare. This is also my first car that I really wash, polish, and wax. I read up on all the tips in these forums then went at it. Below is a coat of Meguiars cleaner wax, a coat of Meguiars scratch X, a coat of Meguiars deep crystal polish, and two coats of Meguiars deep crystal carnauba wax and finished off with Meguiars quick detail. Since this pic though I have went to the their light scratch instead of scratch X and NXT wax instead of Deep crystal and it looks even better. NXT is a breeze to take off. I don't have good pics of NXT yet cause everytime I wash and wax her with it I just have to take her out for a spin but I'll post one below also.
Oh and that fluffy looking white line is not a smug. It is the contrail of a jet that flew over.
NXT (you can see some fo the bugs and junk on the front I picked up driving her out there, but hey I pretty her up to get her dirty)
Thanks. I would HIGHLY recommend doing a search and reading ALL the tips first. Loads of good info. Do a Google search as well and check out Meguiers homepage. 'Cause if you go by the directions on the back you only get. Apply in cool place out of direct sunlight, wipe off.
Good luck.
Megs here also. I use the three step kit, but replaced the third product with NXT. Nxt is the best I have used, no white dust. Worked well on my blk C5 also.

Have you ever used Super Glaze by the Wax Shop. This has been a really good wax. Easy to apply, haze and come off. You can virtually wax a car in about 30 minutes and as often as you like.
What about Zaino Brothers stuff? I have been using that for a couple of years now and it seems ok, but always wondering if there is something better.
Oh and can anyone tell me how to post a picture, so I can show you my results with Zaino stuff??
You have to host it somewhere, web site, free pic hosting or if you can't find a place, just e-mail me the pic and I'll host it for ya. I'm not sure if this site hosts pics?
if you're asking how to get wax off, then wash the car in dawn, but don't make a habit of it. Use Maguiers NXT car wash after Dawn, then wax it. Maguiers NXT car wash won't take the wax off, but it will get rid of any Dawn residue before you wax it.
My 91 turquoise vette wins FIRST PLACE at almost all car shows...Including 1st at Carlisle & Best In Class (1997), 2002 Best of Show & Go @ Englishtown, NJ, and most recently, First Place @ All American Corvette Club hosted at Bergenfield H.S. 5/15/2005
Every show I win, they tell me my paint Is soo clean & shiny. I have never waxed my vette!!! I have always cleaned the paint with Klasse, that Is not a wax, but an acrylic cleaner that cleans and polishes the paint & lasts 6 months!!! Put a couple of coats on your vette & you will
throw away all your wax products like I did.
No, I am not a dealer for this product...It's just the best product out there. I purchase mine from Herringtons car products catalog & costs far lower than exotic yellow car waxes!!!

How many miles do you put on it in a week? I have to wax mine to protect it. A simple polish wash wouldn't last in Southern Cali daily driving half a month.
I have found the quality of Meguiars products has been going down over the years. There was a time when that was all I used but not any more. NXT is one of the worst products I have EVER used and has no durability and stains you trim. Ever since I found Zaino I have not looked back, even for the swirl removers I use products made by 3m, Menzerna or Poorboys. If you are one of these people that insist on using a carnuba try Pinnacle.

That may be true, I haven't used Zaino. The reason being, to many steps, not readly available and doesn't it leave dust. Now I am doing my car today and realized I needed swirl remover, so went to Pep Boys and continued my job, can't do that using Zaino. A lot of us like nice looking cars, but do not spend every waking hour detailng our cars. I think NXT last a long time, my last appilication was at least 6-months ago and it was still beading? NXT is the easyest to remove that I have used.
