Default Lowering with F45

I have a 97 C5 and have lowered it, I think the shocks need to be replaced, I have seen a few post about using the bilstein sport shocks, but I do not know if these will work for me because of the f45 suspension, what kind of shock can I use, becuase its a horrible ride, and I would hate to have to raise it back up.

Thanks
Andy

IMO, the best way to do this is to put in the Bilstein Sports, disconnect the F45 control module in the left rear storage compartment and have a dealer or a tuner with a Tech II tool delete the option from the computer. That will permanently delete the F45 option from the system preventing any codes in the future.

There are a couple of other ways to do it. One is to buy the aftermarket F45 bypass (expensive IMO) or install some inline resistors at each sensor (not very elegant and can burn the resistor if you move the cabin switch by accident). The Tech II deletion is the best method IMO.

I have an F45 also (2001) and can't tell the difference between settings either.

I replaced my 01 F45 shocks after about 15k miles with 04 Z06 shocks. My car is lowered on the stock bolts. The F45s were still working fine but I wanted better handling. The inline resistor method was used by Andy at A&A Corvettes to prevent codes from the F45 computer. No complaints with the 04 Z06 shocks & lowered, but I agree the Bilstien Sports are great and a must have for the very lowered C5s. BTW, I understand there is a nationwide backorder on the Bilstien Sports. Good luck on your purchase and swap.

I have the same setup lowered and I just locked the cabin switch into position to prevent frying a resistor.
