i've tried the magnets laying around my house and my tool box, but it's not working too well, it still wont reprogram my sensors.. please, can someone advise as to what size magnet i need and if i can get it at home depot or somewhere else??
I use a magnetic pickup tool. (One of those telescoping things with a little magnet on the end). I just telescope it out, and hold it on one side of the stem and rotate it around and wait for the beep. Does your DIC say that it's ready to program the sensors?
A lot of people use old speaker magnets. I used one of those round magnets, on a handle, that I bought at a hardware store. It's called a Power Mag and is designed to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
I used a pretty strong one when I did mine, just make sure you have the program up on the display. Make sure you hold it directly on the sensor (valve stem) right up against the rim until the horn blows. The display will read RR, LR, FR, FL just do them in the order they come up. Hope I didn't confuse you
just went out and tried again.. no luck.. let me clarify my situation.. i swaped my 2000 wheels for 2001 wheels a week ago and got no readings on my DIC for tire pressure.. just today i got the "service tire pressure system"
am i correct by trying to reset them or do i need 2000 sensors?

kinda make a "T" to the valve stem with the magnet?

There is your problem!!!! I assume that your car is a '00. Sensors were changed between '00 and '01 (there is a '97-'00 model and a '01-'04 model sensor). THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. An '01 sensor will NEVER work on an '00 car. Sorry, but you need to put the old sensors back in.

Since BlkSS1755 got his sensor problem nailed down, can any of you guru's help me with my sensor problem? I have a '98 that the previous owner installed Z06 wheels on sans sensors. Does anyone know of a way to keep the tire pressure sensor warning from coming up on the DIC?
It's annoying and is making me violent...ok, not violent, just frustrated

Sorry, but on your model year there is no way to turn the TPM system off. You will get the messages unless you put sensors back on the car. This system can't be turned off in '97-'00. It can be turned off in '01-'04. The TPM system is controlled by the BCM. The BCM was changed in '01 to accomodate changes as the ZO6 was rolled out. The BCM in a ZO6 is the same as any other. They don't have tire sensors, so there needed to be a way to turn the system off.

Thanks! I figured there was no way to turn off the system, but it was worth a shot! Guess I'll just have to live with it ..
I'm brand new to this, so be easy. Question. I have a 2001. I was on vacation and had a puncture on a tire. The tire had to be replaced. People putting on the tire broke the sensor. Got new sensor. Installed. Now reading Lxxx. Service tire pressure monitor (something like that) Does not say anything about being ready to program. What do I need to do? Dealership need to reprogram? Can I? Thanks for the info. Chuck
cro77727,i just today, got some new to me sensors put in and re-programmed them myself w/a magnet!if i can do it,any friggin moron on the face of the earth can do it!from what i read on here, you guys know your sh%^$#^t!!!so anyway, there is a procedure.1st,you need a magnet.then you go into your dic.clear all messages, etc.till blank.hold reset for 3-5 seconds till fob retraining pops up.hit options and tire retraining will appear.hit reset and it'll say learn left front tire(or something like that!)go stick the magnet right over the air thing till you hear a beep.then look at the dic for the next tire and do the same thing till all 4 are done!i did it on my 01 and it works!!! i'm an idiot when it comes to this tech stuff, but this was pretty easy! good luck.
