Actually AMSOIL has been making and selling multivitams and other related products for years. Use them myself, but haven't bothered to market them as I assumed most people would have the same reaction you have. Altrum Online Store
Yes they have two 20w-50's out. The Series 2000 20w-50 is the better of the two. The comparable Mobil 1 product would be the 15w-50 Extended Performance oil, which has been reformulated to some degree. Can't go wrong with either product.
I use this oil on the track for the middle of summer, 100 degree temps. Note, this oil does not meet GM Standard 4718M for the C5/Z06 as it is too heavy.
If you are looking for a little bit thinner high performance oil, this one does meet GM Standard 4718M: AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30
Some people believe that because this is a 0w30, it is too "thin" for a Vette, but if you look at the 212F viscosity of this oil, you'll see that it is actually about 10% "thicker" that the Mobil 1 5w30.
Subdriver, what do you know about Amsoil reformulating the Series 2000 0w-30? On www.bobistheoilguy.com, it was noted that they lowered the calcium and increased the magnesium quite a bit. They seem to be reducing the anti-wear additives much like Mobil 1 has and trying to meet the GF-4 specifications. It's still a GF-3 rated oil, but for racing, the lower ZDDP levels could be a concern.

I don't really know any more than anyone else. As you mention, I too believe that the AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30 has already been reformulated to comply with the new API standards. I've kept an eye on the various AMSOIL product data sheets and press releases since becoming a dealer over a year ago and I've noticed the product data sheets lead the press releases.
If you look at the product data sheet for the AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30, you can see that AMSOIL updated it this February. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that it has been reformulated, but the press release hasn't been published yet.
I also have been told, but can't personally confirm, that to compensate for the lower ZDDP, AMSOIL has found other anti-wear additives that comply with SM/GF-4 and that they have upped the level of ester in the blend. I am about to get a used oil analysis out of a C5 using this oil, so we'll see.
Subdriver, what oil will you have an anlaysis of on the C5? The Series 2000? Only reason I don't think more esters are being added in is because the Flash points have stayed low.

Yes, the Series 2000 0w30 in another forum member's car.
