I have had the borla stinger dual ovals on my 00 a4 DD coupe for two yrs now and love them. The thing I don't love is the drone Will an x-pipe help any ? It's pretty annoying on longer drives.
I have a Borla Muffler system but it is not the "stingers". I get a drone at about 75mph. At what speed do you get the "drone."
I have an A4 with a 3.15,, my drone comes in at 2,100 RPM So the sweet drone spot for the Borla Stingers that I have and my cruse speed 79MPH are in the same spot. Bummer. Now that said I love the sound that they put out and according to the survey on this form they are the favorite. Did not really know that I had a problem with them until I put in the Quiet Car sound insulation to stop the GY run crap noise. Once I got them calmed down then the drone came in. So I put in the X-Pipe and now all is good again.

I have the Borla Quad Round Stingers. I loved the sound, but the drone gave me headaches. Someone recommended the $99 partition from Ecklers. Looks nice, has the Z06 logo, cut interior sound 50%, NO HEADACHES! Love those Borlas!
I had headers, X pipe and tried Corsa Indys then Magnaflows and was so tired of the reasonance/drone that I fitted a TI system off the Z and it's perfect. That reasonance is only there at certain revs and seems to be worse with the auto.

Thanks for the reply. That's about the same spot as mine. To tell you the truth, I kind of like it.
I'm not being a smartazz but I tell folks that worry about resonance/drone of the Borlas to either keep the stock or at most go with the Z06 Ti's. I don't care what any of you say, I've heard most of the different brands and you're going to get resonance/drone from all of them at some rpm/speed range. Some are worse than others. It just boils down to do you want your Vette to sound like an American V8 or a Cadillac?
I've got Borla Stingers and we're about to leave on a 4K mi trip in it. Oh yea, I'm not one of the youngsters (53yrs old) who loves a loud exhaust at any cost.
XR-1 Racing System by BORLA, Random Tech CATS, B&B Shorty Headers and yes a drone that I FREAKIN' LOVE.
Sorry to hear that you don't care for your drone noise, wish it was something I could help you with, but I wouldn't change my setup for anything but free LTs! LOL!
I already installed the partiton and rear sound proof material which helped a little. Like I stated in my original thread I love the stingers around town but unless I drive 80mph it's drooooooooon Thanks for all the positive responses
I've got the stock rear-end but no drone with my 6-speed either. Had her on cruise at highway speeds from 70 to 80 and she's as quiet as stock.
Only drone I’ve ever heard is in 1st gear with a very slow acceleration - and it’s not consistent.
Same here. If you don't have LT headers then the drone really isn't that bad IMO. Honestly, the car sounds absoluletly wonderful with this setup. Now, if you have LTs then it's a whole other ball game. My car is mostly a daily driver and I loved my Quad Borla Stingers up until I put LTs, x-pipe, and high-flow cats on the car. It sounds absolutely perfect at all RPM ranges (WOT = ) except when under load in the 1500rpm-1800rpm zone. In that zone, under load, the drone is really bad. Again, this is only under load - in which case I just down shift to get out of it.
