OK. I'm an idiot. The underhood light isn't working on my 03. I took the bulb out to check the filament (which isn't broken). For the life of me I can't get the bulb back in correctly. Any tips? (I suppose I'll check the fuse next. At least I can take them out and put them back in. Thanks.

Don't feel bad ...
Just put one end in ... then take a flat, PLASTIC item and push the other connector in just enough to put the second end of the bulb over it. I did mine with a screw driver, but be careful you don't end up looking like Buckwheat
BTW, the light doesn't work at all, or did it turn off 'cause you had the hood up for a while. There is a power saving mode on that light.
And check the wire connection near the front of the hood ... to the right of the airfilter.

Yeah, mine was unplugged as well. I followed the wires down and saw it was unplugged, plugged it in and presto it works. But now I've noticed it's not working I'll have to check it out and see what it is now.
Hi, this is my first post. I have a 2001 z06 and having the same problem. I put my voltmeter and got 10v and the light is good. but it will not turn on?
unless it needs 12 volts? hmm....
I was just going to suggest BillW take a voltmeter to his recepticle and check the voltage (just after opening the hood so it doesn't time out).
Yep, 10v just isn't going to get that 12v bulb going. Check voltage at plug near radiator. Hope its 12v there.
..rickko..
Thanks rickko , I just did what you said. I check the plug had 12 volts and it look like it had dry water green stuff in it. Clean it out with q-tips and I bended the prongs just alittle and my light came on. If it start's acting up again...i'm going to get a new plug at a computer store and wire it in.
Great Post Guys!! I have been wondering what the heck was the issue with my lite. Unplugged connector for me as well. WTF! IS this a factory issue, or just mechanics unplugging this for some reason? Jeff
