I'm looking to buy a C-5 around Jan or Feb.... Of the 97-99 which would you say is a better car and of the prices i see on-line is it fair to say you can make some deal as in working with the seller on the posted price.
I've been reading the board here for about a month or so and some people have taken 1000's off the asking price.
Thanks all....this will be Vette #3 when it happens..... had a 74 and an 84 can't wait to be back in the family.
Sounds obvious but it's true. You should have a number of options in those years, and the prices should be coming down as the C6's are out now and you're looking at an early C5. Good luck and welcome back.
One more dumb Question......... I've seen cars on here and on Auto trader.com and they have been at dealers and when you look at the pic of the car on the lot it has a price on the window but by the time it gets posted on-line there's a $2000 difference (lower) than on the lot.
Is it safe to say if I see a car at a dealers to just take off that $2000 and work with making a deal with that price.
i'll echo what others have indicated. get the newest car with the lowest mileage you can. we sold our 87 c4 3 yrs ago. recently got the bug again. i (mr fiscal conservative) was thinking about a 95 or 96 coupe but my dear wife (how 'bout it!) urged me to go newer. 3 wks ago we snagged a 2000 coupe w/ 32k miles. could not be happier. bub

If you go to Edmunds.com you can research the trade, private party, and retail value of the various cars. Don't overpay...too many people think their cars are worth more than they are.
Get the lowest mileage garage queen you can find with active handling, so it would have to be a late '98 and up. I picked up my currnet '98 Torch Red coupe with under 18K miles, loaded and with with active handling....they are out there. I came across a loaded '98 with only 11K miles but he wouldn't go below $23K, so I passed. Right now you should be in the $21K-$22K range for low mileage '98-'99 coupes. Wait until the end of Sept and you will pay less, best prices are from Oct-March, I bought mine in March and got an incredible deal.
In 1999 they started Heads Up display. This option is well worth buying a '99 and newer. You can add this option to any model I hear, but I would rather get one with it already in there
It should not offend the dealor that you are trying to get the car cheap. It is all part of the process. If you are a serious buyer you are not wasting their time. I would look in the private market seems to me lot of good deals out there.

Hi JWB Z06 -
I love the way you have your house "landscaped" in your av picture...
