Default C5 on jack stands

When you jack up a C5, where do you guys place the jack stands? I know that you have to jack at the jacking points, but what is safe for the weight of the car on the stands?

I put my jack stands under the front and rear cross members. Just follow the instructions in the service manual. Make sure the jack stands bridge both rails of each cross member and in the front make sure you are not putting it under the oil pan instead of the cross member.

I jack mine up using the front and rear crossmembers and then put the jackstands at the 4 lift points on the sides (using my homemade hockeypuck cushions, of course).

It is more popular to use the crossmembers to lift the car, and use stands at the sides. The support points are actually recessed and you MUST use a self locating spacer such as the home made huckey pucks or something like the Elite Engineering parts. like I use. If you feel around under the side sill of the car, you will find a place where there is a 'hole' in the fiberglass where you can feel the frame, one place just about inder the front of the door and the other just about at the rear of the door. There is a slot cut into the frame metal about 3/8 wide and 1-1/4 long at these locations where the spacer is 'engaged' to make it stay in place. The cars oubht to be delivered with the spacers, but they are not. I use a block of wood on my jack to prevent damage of the crossmbers. There id little clearance to get a jack under the front of the car, so usually you have to drive up on some 2x6s or ramps to get more room so you can get the jack in. BE careful not to lift the oil pan.....get down there and LOOK at what your doing. Its not hard to do properly, you just need to know the tricks.
