Well I got one finally. I have alot of fine scratches (spider web stuff) which only I see. Well I started after them tonight. Did the back deck. I figure I will do one area at a time and get her perfect in about a week. Been doing it under bright Halogen and flouresent lights with magnifiers on. How's that for ****? Should be looking real good for the "Plastic Fantastic" here in San Diego in a couple of weeks
I might just have to get me one of those. Where did you buy yours and how much?
I picked mine up at Tool Depot For $115 came with the foam buffing pad. I have heard of guys finding them cheaper. But that was the best I could find in San Diego.
I took the plunge this year as well. I had borrowed one a few times from coworkers and man, they do a great job. Easy to use and safe. Have a look over at www.properautocare.com for some great polishes and accessories to go with it.

Im thinking about getting one.althrough i have a black car.Do i need to know what im doing being that its a black car? Or is it just a matter of turning it on.
Extremely safe and easy to use, and you will kick yourself for not getting one sooner. Pad choice, and polish choice will make all the difference. Some pads needed, are a yellow and orange cutting pad used for polishing. A grey finishing pad is also a welcome addition for removing wax. A very user friendly line of polishes is Poorboys and you always start with the least agressive polish and work your way harder as only needed. Poorboys SSR 2 and 2.5 sells very well and work great with the Porter Cable 7424.
While our price on the PC might be a little higher, it is still a great deal. With the Memorial Day Sale couponcode on checkout you will receive free shipping and a bottle of DP wash (12.00 value). While we do not discount the PC, Dewalt, or Makita items, all other items including the pads and polishes are reduced by 10% will the couponcode. Here are some links:

I think you would really have to try hard to mess up the paint like throw a hand full of sand in the polish or something like that. I bought polishes with different degrees of aggressiveness. I worked my way up to what I needed then back down if necessary
i was told that if you dont know what your doing with a buffer you can put more swirl marks in than you have already.Thats what i was trying to say.
I think they are refering to a rotory buffer which just spins if you don't know what your doing with them you can leave swirls and even burn the paint. The 7424 is a random orbital it really acts almost like a big vibrator so it can't really leave swirl marks. Kind of perfect for me "idiot proof"
Check out www.griotsgarage.com. Probably not the best price available, but they have a different backing plate to reduce the possibility of burning paint. They also have a book that tells you what speed to use for different products, etc.

Congrats on the purchase.
You ain't seen no scratches until you've seen mine. I don't want to post a pic 'cause it'd make most of you cry.
Just ordered my PCRO today for $126.50 shipped from Coastal Tool. That price includes a 6" Hook & Loop Contour Pad (part #18002) and a 6" Counterweight. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Pretty **** I've been considering getting one just so I can see how well the PCRO works on the marring (some call it swirls) I've got going on. Good luck on removing yours.

got it at Lowes for $105. Believe me if I can do it from a wheelchair
