Default C5s INTRODUCTIONS

i have been reading some older (97-98) issues of corvette fever/corvette enthuisiast, and letters from the readers and writers indicate at the time, that they were really happy with the new c5 and were lining up to get them. thats contrary to what i have been reading lately about the c6 from the same magazines. the c6 seems to be not be as well received as the c5 was at its introduction. i know forum members may not be fully represented at that time( ?) but i tend to think that the c5 debut was much more anticipated and more loved than the c6 is now. could it have been because the c4 was out for much longer or is the c5 just that great of a car ? or both...........

In my opinion I think that's part of it. The C4 was out for 12 years.....and the C5 was such a great leap forward.....pretty much a new car in every manner.

Now.....the C5 was only out for 7 years and never underwent any real significant changes.....and the jump to the C6 reminds me more of the refinements made to the C4 in 91/92.

While the C6 is growing on me......I still think it's really a C5.5.....and that's why I think there's just not as much excitement for the C6 as there was for the C5. I know for a fact when I had my C4 every time I saw a new C5 I thought to myself "I have got to get me one of those!". Now that I have a C5 I just don't get that for the C6.

Just my $.02......

thats about right........i just dont feel (for once) that the grass is greener about the c6, i thinks thats the general consensus from most c5 owners and i dont think that Vette owners are the milquestoast types,(not to say if you own any other generation you are either)

I feel that the c4 - c5 was a big jump in performance handling, hp and breaking. The move to the c6 was an attempt to improve refinement. I think the interior is better quality and additions like the Nav system are nice, but does this warrent a generation change? To me the body chages could have been better thought out. The engine seams like a comp not to anger c5 zo6 buyers. The c6 is growing on me and with a little more change, like c4 91-92, the second phase c6 could be what they wanted in the first place.
