Trunk malfunction?
Is there anything I can do (short of a trip to the dealer) about the trunk lid to my '99 vert that will only pop up high enough for me to get a fingernail under it? Do the struts just get tired over time?

It's a common problem with verts and Z06s:

The latch sping as mentioned in the above link very likely is the problem and may need adjustment or replacement. Some here have reported lubricating the latch assembly and strut rods with a light lubricant like WD-40 helped. However, I would use any lubricant very sparingly. Also, with the top and windows up, shut one of the doors firmly. The cabin air pressure from this will usually push the trunk lid up far enough for you to get your fingers under it. Too, this will help prevent damage to the lid from trying to use objects under the lid to open it further.
