Just yesterday I went to turn my headlights off, and when the flipped down, the motor kept making a rattlin noise for a good five seconds after they were closed. Also, when I turn the lights to the park posiition, they raise all the way. Anyone experienced this?

The "rattling" could possibly be the be because the plastic gear has some broken teeth. When this happened to me it was more like a grinding sound after the headlights had flipped to the down position. Replaced it with a brass gear and all was well.
Haven't experienced or heard of the headlights coming up when turning on only parking lights. Sorry, can't help you there.

Replace the gears with metal ones and you will not have that problem again.

Not particularly. You'll have to remove the light housing, remove the motor, and then pry off the plate on the side of the motor to get to the gear for replacement. Replace the gear, clean off the old epoxy and re-epoxy the plate back on, re-install the motor and then re-install the light housing.
Had forum member OHH YEAH do most of the work on mine (I pried off the back plate, installed the new gear, and epoxied it back together). Took something like an hour to an hour and a half.
