Hey Guys, I was thinking of taking the wife on a road trip in the vette somewhere. Do any of you have any suggestions for a good cruising trip of three to five days? Past experiences and suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Louisiana.

Yeh! Cruise on up to Bowling Green and visit the museum. While there take a tour of the assembly plant. You can go to the www.corvettemuseum.com to order tickets for the tour. Then get on the Blue Ridge Parkway and run down it as far as you have time for. You'll see some awesome scenery and drive on the roads the Corvette was made for. There are some bed and breakfasts along the way. I think that'd be a great way to enjoy the Corvette and get in some relaxing vacation time.
The route suggested by sailohio would be very nice. Try going through the Smoky Mountains also if you have time.
there are some beautiful drives in Arkansas. Senic Highway 7 north of Hot Springs is spectacular. On the eastern side of the state Highway 23 (Think that's it) is nice as well. It runs north into Eureka Springs. Both are mile after mile of smooth twisties.
Try googling "senic byways" or some such. Found some great recomendations there.
My wife and I just came back from Colorado and on the way back we drove through the Texas hill country. It is also a nice ride but it is probably hot in Texas right now. The back roads of Texas have some fairly high speed limits too. Jimmy
I've got a suggestion if you've got any kind of loud exhaust. Get yourself a partition divider. I love my vert but on long trips, my exhaust gets a little old.
It's a bit hot out here in the Arizona desert now, if you hurry you can beat the 120's. Don't forget the SPF2000 if you decide to cruise with the top down. Don't forget to wave if you're coming through I-10

This is the reason we bought our Vert! Evie is from Boone, NC and the parkway is an amazing road. A few years ago we drove all the way to Washington DC. The sunset and dusk on the parkway is amazing. I wish we had the Vert back then.
Since the weather is getting hot in the south, I'd consider going to the mountains of New Mexico. Santa Fe, Taos and Red River are beautiful. Believe me, the wife will love it. You need a jacket in Red River at night. The air is so clean and the pine trees are everywhere. Go online and do a search for these towns in N.M. I'm not sure how far you are from Dallas, but it's about 700 miles from Dallas to Red River. There are plenty of winding Mountain roads on the way up there.
btw, if you do plan this trip, you will be coming through Wichita Falls on the way up. Let me know and maybe we could get together for a meal.
I live in the Mobile, Alabama area on the Gulf Coast and last month my wife and I took a week long trip to Branson, Missouri. We drove up to Jackson, Mississippi and then west on I-20 to just inside Louisiana and headed north on US-65. It is mostly a two lane road with very little traffic. Once we got up into Arkansas we thought we were in Corvette heaven as the roads twist more and more as you near the state of Missouri. The scenery was beautiful and the temps should still be cool in the mountains of Arkansas and Missouri. We spent five days in Branson at the Fall Creek Bed & Breakfast. It was very nice and rates were reasonable. The owner was so nice when I talked to him on the phone when I called him for a reservation. When I mentioned that I had a Corvette and was very particular about where I parked it, he said he had a double carport on the corner of his parking lot that he normally parked his old Nova under but he would let me use the carport during my stay so my vert would be covered and wouldn't get dinged. Now that's what I call "Southern Hospitality".
We went to five different performances in Branson while there. Your wife would love some of the shows. Most of the performers allow for photos after the show. My wife got to have her picture taken with Larry Gatlin and Roy Rogers Jr.. She was really thrilled. We also saw Andy Williams, Petula Clark, Jim Stafford and went to the Dixie Stampede.
Sorry, this post is so long but I thought since you are in Louisiana the trip would be one that wouldn't be too long for the time you have alloted.
Do the scenic 7 in Arkansas or the Natchez Trace Trail. With 3 days you are kind of limited andboth those are great drives. You won't be disappointed by either trip. And it is hot in the mountains right now.
Whatever you decide if you are in a Vette it will be a great trip.
