My passenger side seatbelt stopped working- it is very difficult to even pull out (have to slowly pull, stop, pull, stop, until it reaches the buckle), and it doesn't retract (much) either... Any ideas?
Don't suppose the history had a price on it did it?? I just paid $80 today at the dealer to replace the driver side weather stripping (yeah, $80, for a strip of rubber)- so I'm terrfied what a seatbelt replacement costs!

What was the cost of the weatherstrip without installation?
I dunno if this could be your problem, but it was mine. The belt had twisted in the inside of the panel where it wasnt visible and it was hard to pull as you say. I just took off the panels there at the belt, took out the retractor at the base, and fixed it that way. Try that out before you even THINK about seein the dealer. Good luck!

I understand its a common problem and there may be a Service Bulletin out on this. The belt gets twisted and you can't retract it. Since its a safety feature, I think the dealer is obligated.

I bought my 99 FRC used from a dealer. My daughter came with me to pick the car up and when she got in the passenger's seat the seat belt wouldn't work. I brought it back the next day and they fixed it. The service manager told me they had to put a new system in. It was a TSB he told me.
DONT TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!!!! Unless you have a real good service dept. I would just try and fix it yourself. Mine did what everyone is talking about and I fixed it myself. It took all of about 30-45 minutes. Just my $.02 but I HATE THE CHEVY DEALERS
