I am in the process of installing my new GM bra. What works better, snapping the bottom snaps or placing the hood clips first? How about the order of the fender snaps?? Does it matteer? Thanks
I snap the snaps on one side and then do the hood clips and just work my way around. I do the bottom snaps. I then go back and snap the top snap on each side. Jimmy

Thanks guys.....install took 45 minutes thanks to you and Fitchner Chev. who sent me some marine screw snaps.

Will that bra chaff the finish? I'm so sick of rocks hitting the nose cone on my car. What does it cost, the bra I mean, and where can they be had?
Any bra can marr the finish. You shouldn't leave a bra on full time. I only use mine for long road trips. I always put an extra coat of Zaino on the nose just before I put the bra on. If it gets wet, you should remove it and let it dry off the car. I've been using this GM bra for three plus years this way and not had any problems. You can try one of our forum dealers Ken Fichtner or Fred Beans and order one up. You should be able to find one for around $89.00

I've been using the GM bra on three different C5s for 5 years and if you use this advice you should not have a problem
I just received my new GM Bra. There are 7 screws included, three are wood screws for under the nose, and 4 machine screws with rubber dampeners for the wheel wells. I removed the two lower screws and found them to be wood type screws? There seems to be no way to install the snaps using the machine screws provided?
My car is a 2000. Has something changed, or did they send the wrong screws? A car with 1/2 a bra is like getting caught in an elevator in your underwear

This is what throws most people when they install. You need to get 4 of the same screws that go under the nose.....the machine screws require the removal of the clips under the original "wood screws" and then the use of the rubber grommet things...it is a pain in the A. The wood screw types simply screw in the original holes. Some chevy dealers stock the stainless steel screw snaps that you need or go to a marine supply or boating place and get them...if you are unsure of the size, take one of the nose ones with you. I believe they are #8 marine snap screws.

Thanks BlackArrow,
Looks like a trip to Home Depot or the dealer, but NOT on Sunday. Really makes me wonder why the manufacturer changed the screws? A friend in Floriduh bought the GM bra some years ago and it then came with 7 of the same screws that are used under the nose (wood screws). Go figure?

Good Luck.....the install really did take 45 min. and I am no mechanic. A couple of tips....lay the bra in the sun and let it get good and warm, when you first install, it will appear too small when you try to snap the far side fender well snaps. Just pull, the vinyl is made to stretch-to-fit. To make the front screws easy to install, drive up on a couple of 2x12s.

This GM bra is a replacement for a horrible Colgan Bra that caused damage to my hood paint. Although it covered more area, the flapping over time caused abrasions, and I only used it on three road trips. Too much stretching! My son works for Home Depot so I have him checking into #8 marine stainless screws. Just might go up today if they have them. And yes, the bra is laid out in the driveway getting nice an toasty - ready for the installation, if I can get screwed?
the gm bra is great, and i think looks good too. i leave mine on almost all the time. some people don't like 'em, but i'm so used to it by now it doesn't bother me one bit. i've been using it for a long time, with no ill effects on paint or anything. just follow the advice others have given, especially when wet (don't use it when it's raining). it has saved my front fascia on my current c5 and my previous c5 more times than i can remember, keeping the front end safe from little pebbles to 5 gallon plastic paint buckets bouncing along the freeway!
i got mine from ficthner chevy, a forum sponsor. great service, great price, and a supporting vendor. support our vendors!
