I have a feeling if I do this I will have the same problem in the future.
I wonder if the dealer would not replace it since i have headers w/out cats and a few othe bolt ons. You think they would use that as an excuse not to replace it?
I've been changing my clutch fluid regularly since the car was new. My clutch pedal has been normal through many passes.
I'd suggest you use a mod-friendly dealer with a lot of experience replacing C5 clutches. Suspect they will accommodate your repair under warranty.
Remove the spring on the clutch pedal. It is the single biggest reason the clutch pedal sticks near the floor. At the point the clutch is on the floor the spring is over center and it acts to hold the pedal in that position. With the factory weak hydrolics, the result is the stuck pedal. Put in an aftermarket clutch and it will overcome the weak hyrol. and spring problem. If you are keeping the factory clutch, just remove the spring.

Yea but the sticking clutch isn't the only problem. When ever it DOES stick the car will not go into 3rd gear at all. I have to pull the clutch out with my foot and sit in neautral for a few seconds before getting it into gear.
I've seen several guys try it after struggling with the same problem at a roadcourse. Soon as the spring was removed they claimed it worked fine. Maybe if the clutch isn't stuck in a position by the frozen pedal, it will function more normally despite the weak hydrol.? I'm no mechanic, just relaying something I've seen work for others.

I am going to try that before I leave the parking lot at work!
If your car is covered by an original or extended warranty,
GM will replace the clutch at no cost to you.
If you go that route I suggest you get on a program of regularly changing the clutch fluid. If you do that, the pedal will not act up.
Ranger
Hey Ranger, just curious, has anyone plumbed a bleed line off of the hidden slave cylinder and exposed it just below; remove the bleeder and attach SS brake line with bleeder on the other end for easy access? When the time comes for me to R&R, I'm going to look into this one.
Guess I don't need this new clutch sitting in my garage. Guess I'll be going to the parts for sale section now.
The spring acts to make the pedal harder to push in until it over centers near the floor, then it makes it easier to hold the pedal on the floor like at a stoplight. That is why it ends up sticking the pedal to the floor. The pedal will now be easier to push, but a little harder to hold on the floor (which we all know we shouldn't do for extended periods anyway). Glad I could help.

I did this mod after a few practice sessions at BIR where my clutch was sticking to the floor. It worked perfectly (ofcourse, my engine blew up the next day... but I don't think the two are related ) . Prior to that I had all of the hydraulics replaced under warranty which made basically no difference at all. Thanks again Ron.

did u have issues where it wouldnt let ya get it into gear too??
Yep. I could not shift up or down. I had to get my foot under the pedal and pull it up. You could feel the pedal start to stiffen up as the hydraulics returned. Another suggested fix is the tie your foot to the clutch pedal... I think that would work too
