Default Problems with Steering

We just got back from a 3200 mile road trip with the 2004 Z06. Throughout the trip, the steering would become "heavy" (I guess that's the best way to describe it) after driving the car constantly for 4+ hours. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Have you checked the PS fluid level?

Possibly the fluid is overheating. Try changing it to Valvoline synthetic PS fluid. I'd get it checked out in any event, you need your steering!

The fluid level is fine. On Monday we took it to the dealer to have it checked out, and they couldn't reproduce the problem, so they had no fix.

Thanks. It's actually Roxborough State Park in Littleton, CO.

Guess I'll ask the obvious, but since the steering is speed sensitive, were you going faster when it got heavy? Maybe the variable effort isn't working like it should.....
