I am sure that the headers add some, but I really think that the tune is what really does it.

My friend just got a tune without headers and I just emailed him to find out his gain. That may prove somone's point here...

I agree with the post stating it has to do with your altitude...my stock 97 (well with a K&N and Z06 air lid) ran a 13.3 @ 107MPH here in Florida with a 2.2 60' time. Tire spin was my enemy. I added shorty headers, Z06 catback and a Haltec Stinger so I hope to bring that time down a few pegs...you should be high 12's or at least 13 flat with those mods on the East side of the Country...

Cheers!

Before I did my H/C recently I had very similar mods and very similar HP.
The only big difference is I had 3.42 gears and I up out 326 RWHP and 341 RWTQ. I ran 12.67 with brand new Khumo tires at a good track and good low temps.

I'm sure its the altitude. I recntly took my car with almost 100 RWHP more to a poor track at high elevation and got about the same results

thanks

Here are my best numbers Before the headers and cats/x-pipe.
R/T was .262. My 60' was 2.161. My 330' was 5.851. My 1/8 mile was 8.834 at 83.21 mph. My 1000' was 11.392. Overall time was 13.581 at 102.94 mph.
here are my times after the headers.
R/T was .761 (our track switched to the street lites instead of the tree)(for the import street racers). My 60' was 2.101 (minus 0.06). 330' was 5.794 (minus 0.057). 8th mile was 8.775 (minus 0.059) at 83.05 (minus 0.16). 1000' was 11.335 (minus 0.057). Final was 13.522 (minus 0.059)(I am noticing a pattern) at 103 mph(faster by 0.06 mph).

I reguards to the 'advertised improvement' I heard that those embellished numbers come from people who put the headers on, but leave off the cats. I wanted my cats cause its a convertable and I wanted to cut down some noise.
From reading the posts, I am starting to wonder about my tune job. I totally happy with my car, but you guys are starting to make me wonder. Maybe I should move back to the east coast...
I dont suppose anyone here lives in vegas....?
thanks for the help!!

Anyway, I have an 00 convertable that I just put Dynatech headers and high flow cats on. I took it to the track and got virtually the same 1/4 mile times. My best time before was 13.581, after the mods I ran a 13.522....?
When I had the headers put on, I was amazed at how faster it seemed. I had it dyno'ed, with this mod alone, I picked up 13 horse and 23 fp-lbs. I expected more, but oh well. Reguardless, shouldn't that extra power have translated to faster times....
I know you guys are probably assuming more tire spin, but I think my BFG G-force's do pretty good. Plus its an automatic, so I can only screw up soo much... I am no pro with all of this, but given variations of track conditions I cant figure this out. I keep track of the stats on my 1/4 mile printouts, the barometer was 0.38 lower, the temperature was 5 degrees warmer, would humidity make a difference?
Since I have typed this much, I might as well ask one more question. I read about peoples mods and racing times, is there that big a difference in elevation and track location?? I am in Las Vegas. I've done my share of upgrades (I will spare the details) but my car sounds slow compared to cars with the same modifications. My 60 foot times are around 2.1 and I am hitting just over 103 mph. I read about guys that have done less to their vettes than I have and they are running faster times and speeds.
ok, thanks!!
I've been told my stock A4 would be about a half second faster in Phoenix over Tucson due to difference in elevation. I think it is over 1000 ft difference, track to track.

, I picked up about 40rwhp with similar mods. I would go back to the tuner and ask tham to redo the LS1 edit, something here is not right.

How many times did you run down the track after the mods?

Reading this my first feeling is that 326hp at rw and only 103mph. With the 3.15 just doesn't seem right, something is up IMO. I would surely think you could get a better trap speed, hope it gets better for ya
