Default rain-x

ok we all know how good rain x works on windows
just wondering if anyone has ever tried it on the body of the car to keep it clean
also would there be any adverse affects of applying it to the paint of our car

According to my bottle it says "Do not spill, splatter or use on paint.." I would say that means not using for polishing and I do not need any other reason to think about.

if I'm not mistaken there's a caution on the packaging that says avoid contract with painted surfaces. But the last time I checked was a while ago so it may no longer be a concern.

There's a product out there that isn't very easy to find, I get mine on the net, called DURASHINE, made by the same outfit that sold that snake oil DURALUB. But this stuff REALLY works. I use it on my "outdoor" car and truck and I actually hope for rain when they get dirty so they'll get clean. The only catch is it works best on unpolished ( non-waxed) cars. I've got sooo much wax on my car I've never tried it on the vett.

Now here's the best part - it's water soluable- you put it on, let it dry and RINSE IT OFF WITH A HOSE. I use it on all my window glass, inside and out, and it's the ONLY thing I use on my chrome Z06 wheels. I mix it with water in a spray bottle, spray every nock and cranny, let it dry, hose it off - I don't even dry the wheels and they come out spotless.

Been using this stuff on chrome wheels for better than 10 years, never had a problem.

Give it some thought and figure out how many hard to reach places you could spray this stuff on and then just RINSE it off with a hose.

Give it a try, I think you'll like it - everyone I've ever recommended it to was very satisfied.

With everything out there to put on the paint, why would you even consider it?

I wouldn't do it. If it was an okay thing to do on painted services the RainX people would have been marketing the heck out of it for that additional use.

I once had a dark blue Mercedes and a stupid girl friend. She loved ArmourAll. Loved the way it shined.

While I was gone on a business trip she Armour All'd the entire outside of the car! When i got home it looked like s*&T! She said it looked good while putting it on even though the directions specifically say not to use it on painted surfaces.

We weren't together too much longer after that episode!

But to answer the question I'll ask, "Why would you try it on paint if its not recommended by the mfg?"

I know another product not recommended on paint by the mfg to be used on paint, brake fluid. Why not try it as well? The mfg. could be mistaken.

I remember the other day I tried brushing my teeth with Preparation-H. It comes in a clear gel formula now, so I figured what the heck?

A friend of mine puts RainX in his windshield washer fluid. He says it puts a coat of RainX on everytime he runs the window washer. Sounds odd to me. Has anyone tried this trick?

Corrosian X makes a product for use on airplanes and RV's for use instead of wax and it prevents bugs from sticking. You might want to try that.
