Default UPDATED!!! Getting 3.42 gears PLZ READ

Getting 3.42 rear end...have 3.15 now. Can I use my predator programmer to fix speedometer???? Also, when I go under gear ratio on predator it shows 3.42's and I have factory 3.15's, why is this???

Jamey;

1. There is no speedo error when changing rear axle ratios on a C5... any C5.

2. There are other reasons to perform a reprog update though. Your specific model Predator (the 1999 - 2003 model) has a bug that won't perform proper gear scaling (it fails to adjust a table).
Ignore the fact that the Predator already shows "3.42".

Remember that the Predator does all GM V8 vehicles - not just Corvettes. And it's specifically with the Corvette that the flaw appears.

You can get your Peredator updated - to fix this bug - either by DiablosSport, or the company you purchased your Predator from.

JT, I'm glad you're sticking with the 3.42's, keep it conservative, probably your everyday driver huh? me too.

Watch out or these guys will get you super charged and nitrous with a head/cam package before you know what happened.

....just read the above.....even better. Getting the gears and for free.
Who did you have to kill?

The Warranty will probably only go up to 342 because that was the highest gear that is OEM on the Vette, anything else (390 373) would be considered aftermarket and not OEM stock part.

Glad you are getting it for free enjoy

well, it keeps getting better.....since everything is apart, I am CONSIDERING a 3000 stall TC. My car IS my daily driver, and I feel like 3.42's with 3000 stall would be a great combo.

INPUT PLEASE.......

I will have Predator programmer, so I should not have any issues should I?

Thanks,
Jamey

Since everything is apart you should really consider the TC. Doing that labor twice isn't worth it and you just know that after the gears you will be wishing for the TC...especially since the step from 3.15's is not the same feeling as starting with 2.73's, so the TC will really help you "feel" the new gear set.

Well, Z06 (3.42) rear end is suppose to be in tomorrow or Wednesday at latest & 3000stall TC. I REALLY hope I do NOT regret the TC. I am so afraid that I am NOT going to like how it drives around town!!!!

You're going to love the way your car performs and drives with your new setup. A 3000 stall T/C with 3.42 gears will feel just about like the stock T/C when you are driving normally. Which 3000 stall are you going with? If you have a choice of STR, get the highest STR the converter will feel tighter.

In most cases you swap the whole carrier, not just the ring and pinion. There is no need to replace your tranny.
