Default Jakelope...umm, how am I different from the others?

Everytime you speed it is a,,,um calculated risk...so, get off your high horse buddy. It is a risk to speed yes, it isn't blazing down crowded streets or by kids or anything...empty road, calculated means thinking about what you are doing. So, I hope you are actually understanding the verbage I am using.
Goodness, I have taken note at how some are when responding to posts. I don't know. Guess there are only two types of people. Antelope, sorry, had you pegged wrong good buddy. No prob though, I feel that you simply have misread something that I wrote and chose to judge, wrongly so. Either way, have fun. That is what it is about.

I've caused a little concern to my wife before, but I loved it. She's not much for testing out twisty roads.

I consider ANY person inside the car a passenger, including the driver - well sort of.

The only time I really UNintentionally scared anybody was myself!

In the photo, at 130 MPH, and came within about 2 inches of the wall in an unanticipated slow drift coming into turn one.

The fastest car my g/f has ever driven in was a 2000 Neon before she met me. She has rode in a couple trucks, etc, but nothing really fast. Lets say spinning out into the next lane when punching it at 30mph made her heart skip a beat. It took her a couple seconds before she would talk to me again

OK, I haven't told this story in a long while but since you asked...In 1973 I had just recently returned to Denver after 2 yrs. in the military. I had a brand new Z28 and a 66 mustang built for the dragstrip. The 66 had an Offenhauser dual quad high rise sticking out of the hood, 411 Posi rear end, 510 lift 326 duration cam and Borg Warner Super T10 4 speed. It had hooker competition headers with tiny little mufflers bolted up to them. It was loud and idled with that Ba Whumpa Ba Whumpa sound you only get from a radical cam and headers. It ran in the twelves at mile high altitude!. A neighbor lady who always seemed to need a ride somewhere for herself or her kids came over one night while I was working on the Mustang and asked if I could give her a ride to her church in a half hour or so. I told her I would be glad to. I'm sure she thought we would be going in the new Camaro but I decided to take her in the Mustang and give her a REAL RIDE. When I got on the on ramp to I-40 I went through the gears speedshifting just like at the track. The car would always violently jerk sideways when I hit second gear and this time was no exception. I shut it down early in third at God knows what speed and exited the next off ramp to take her to her church. She Got out of the car without saying a word. She also NEVER asked me for a ride again! It was probably a ride she has never forgotten. I know I haven't. I'm much older now and more mature and would never do anything like that again. FLYZLOW

You betcha. I scared the ****e out of my friends girlfriend in my '98 Z28. Just casually accelerated to about 20mph in first and then gave 'er hell. I've never see anyone grab a handle so fast in my life. I thought it was hilarious as did my buddy, but Jenny swore she was never riding with me again. No tire spin, or anything. Just straight line acceleration from a near stock Z28. I also managed to scare myself half to death in my '76 stingray. I left a Lil Cricket parking lot "in a hurry". I had pretty much come to terms with my dog of a L48 engine, so needless to say, I was very suprised to find myself almost sideways on the road. I think I got whiplash or something when it snapped back, because my neck and back were sore for a day or two. Probably wasn't the most responsible thing to do, but seemed like a good idea at the time. Hindsight is always 20/20....

Maybe you pegged me wrong Ray and maybe you didn't.

Sure, everyday speeding is a "calculated risk", but as George Orwell said, all pigs are equal but some are more equal than others. There's a difference between cruising 10 mph over the speed limit and doing something that scares hell out of your passenger.

Fear is a natural reaction to stimulus. If your brain perceives there to be a threat to your safety, you have fear.

If your g/f is scared and you aren't that means that she isn't calculating the risks quite the same way you are.

I'm also not that wild about the "we're young" statement. What's that got to do with anything? Do you think your youth will prevent you from being dead?

Look my friend, you can peg me wrong or right, it's your choice and frankly, you're the only one who is really concerned about how you peg me. My only concern is for your safety and for those sharing your car and the road with you.

Givin' someone a good scare is tasteful fun. Whether it's in a car, or not. I let my GF drive my Z for the first tom ethe other day. She loved it naturally. She pulls over and hops out of the driver seat. I guess she had enough. I would've let her drive all the way home, but she felt nervous i guess. Well anyways, i hop behind the wheel, head down the road, and fish tailed it around a wide turn. She was freakin', but loving it!!
